Let’s Work Together!

As a public historian, my favorite part of this work is getting to share it with you!

There are many ways we can work together, so feel free to email me to discuss opportunities: kelly@theforgottensouth.com

Speaking Engagements

I speak to civic organizations, historical societies, genealogical groups, DAR and SAR chapters, libraries, schools, and community events about the American Revolution in the South, and about the people who shaped it.

My presentations go beyond the familiar names and dates. I bring the backcountry militia, the clergy, the forgotten wives, ferrymen, and farmers into the room with us, and make the case for why their stories deserve the same attention as the famous ones.

Some Topics include:

  • The 250 Years, 250 Graves project: methodology, discoveries, and what the journey has revealed

  • The standout stories I’ve uncovered of Patriots in the South

  • The Revolution in the Carolina backcountry: a war within a war

  • Women of the Southern Revolution

  • The role of religion in the Revolution

Cemetery Preservation

Historic cemeteries are some of our most valuable historic resources, and preserving them is the work I’m most passionate about.

I've spent years documenting burial sites across the South and have developed a practical, field-tested approach to cemetery assessment, documentation, and preservation planning. I work with historical societies, churches, families, and local governments to help protect these sites before they're lost.

Every cemetery has a different set of challenges and resources. I'm happy to talk through what you need. Please email me here: kelly@theforgottensouth.com

Tour Groups

This project has given me the opportunity to study the landscape of the American Revolution in a way that many people will never get to see and I want to share what I’ve learned with you and your group!

I offer Custom Itineraries and Hosted Tours
